More from JVCK on the project:
This EP was inspired by many things, but especially homophobia I’ve faced as a gay artist. I decided while writing this project that I was going to rap about material things I don’t have and commercial success I haven’t achieved, as many straight rappers do, and show that my capabilities as a rapper, vocalist, and songwriter aren’t inhibited by my sexuality but by the music industry as a whole. With this project, I am showing I can do the same things as my straight counterparts, but, because I’m gay, the industry has a problem with me having a voice. My hope with this new music is that it opens closed minds and gives more power to the queer voices the industry doesn’t want to hear. More than anything, I want people to have fun listening to the songs and feel the same confidence and excitement I had when recording.
This skillful artist uses sharp wordplay to get his point across. He attacks the trap influenced beats with some impressive rhymes. Make sure you check this out. Don’t sleep on JVCK.
