Mickey O’Brien has released a new video for his track “Strangers”. It’s from the album he released earlier this year titled “My Drift”. “Strangers” was produced by Fresh Kils and has scratches courtesy of Uncle Fester.
The video, directed by Daniel Jardine (Boom Shoal) has a dark, cinematic feel that marries perfectly with the substantive message that Mickey is superbly conveying. It encompasses all the deep emotion he poured into the track.
He speaks on the struggle that many have with substance abuse, mental health and depression, and his personal battle with these demons.
Mickey O’Brien strikes a chord that many can relate to, whether personally or someone we are close with. I truly appreciate music like this that has a message and is much more than a superficial layer with nothing behind it. This skillful emcee is speaking facts and is not shy to open up to the world in a personal and vulnerable way.
