New Jersey’s Tony Seltzer added something different when he did “Rhythm Roulette”. Instead of picking records at random, he went to a vintage store and picked up VHS movie tapes. This is a very original way to find samples. He’s really thinking out of the box. I’ve never seen this before. Tony finds a cool guitar sample from an old movie “The Walking Dead”. He uses this as the main melody that he builds the beat around. He added keyboards and drums to finish it off. He creates another beat using drums and ambient sounds from “Lost In Space”.
I love see producers use different techniques and sounds to make music. It pushes creativity and moves Hip Hop music forward.
